About Persona360: The "Why" Behind the Model

About Persona360 image

I’m Daniel, a social entrepreneur passionate about capacity building. For years, I've focused on building solutions for social impact, most notably as the founder of Nonprofit Builder, a platform now used by over 800 nonprofits and 30 foundations to collaborate and grow. Along the way, I became fascinated by the potential of artificial intelligence.

The spark for Persona360 came from a very personal experience. My colleagues once gave me qualitative 360° feedback as part of an executive coaching exercise. Out of curiosity, I fed it into a large language model, asking it to produce a personality report. The result blew me away. It captured my strengths and weaknesses with clarity, laid out priorities, and even suggested a development plan. It was sharper, more useful, and more personal than anything I’d seen before.

That was the “aha” moment. If AI could do this with rough qualitative feedback, what if we built a dedicated personality assessment designed for today’s workplace?

I started looking at MBTI, DISC, and 16 Personalities. They’re clever tools, but I quickly noticed two problems:

  • Too few “nodes.” With only 3–5 trait pairs, they oversimplify personality.
  • Overlapping and unclear terms. Some definitions didn’t even make sense when you looked closely.

So I began from scratch. The result was the Persona360 framework, built on 9 or 12 distinct trait pairs—clear, precise, and comprehensive enough to capture the complexity of real people.

AI also allows us to change the game. Traditional tools like MBTI and 16 Personalities rely on “snippet stitching”: pre-written text segments combined into reports. But that system breaks down once you go beyond a handful of traits. To cover 12 trait pairs, you’d need more than 4000 text segments, most of which would describe personality combinations that may not even exist in reality. The reports are accurate and relevant, we love them and use them ourselves, but why not try to do better, something even more nuanced and personalised?

With AI, we leapfrog that limitation. Persona360 doesn’t stitch snippets: it crafts a personalized narrative. Each report blends your trait profile with your aspirations, values, work context, and life story. Instead of juggling separate reports - one for personality, one for career: you get one integrated narrative that is unique to you and actionable in your professional context.

We launched Persona360 as an experiment, with the hunch that it would already be good, and with time, it would only get better. And we believe this much: AI-powered, narrative-based assessments will outgrow and outshine preconfigured reports. It’s not a matter of if, but when.

That’s the journey that led us here. Today, we’re proud to launch Persona360, and we’ll keep refining it based on your feedback. Because just like the personalities we study, this tool is always evolving.
